Information Event for Wind Farm Project on the Schwend Ridge – All Residents Invited!

Koehler Renewable Energy is hereby inviting all residents to its first information event for the planned wind farm on the Schwend ridge. This event will be taking place on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Erwin-Braun-Halle venue in Oberkirch (address: Querstraße 10, 77704 Oberkirch) and will offer not only extensive information regarding the wind farm, but also the opportunity to have in-person chats about everything having to do with the project and how it will contribute to the region’s future.
The information event
The event will focus on open dialog and comprehensive information. There will be various topic-specific booths where residents will be able to learn more about the project and about wind power freely and without a set schedule. In addition, experts will be attending to answer any questions that residents might have, including questions revolving around the corresponding technology, the approval process, and environmental and health aspects. In addition, the benefits for the region and the company will be transparently discussed. “With this event, we want to give everyone in Oberkirch and the surrounding area the opportunity to truly learn what this project is all about. Needless to say, direct and open dialog is a top priority for us, which is why the majority of our project team will be attending,” underscores Nicolas Christoph, Corporate Director of the Wind Power, Solar, Hydro & Business Development Division at Koehler Renewable Energy.
The project: wind farm on the Schwend ridge
The planned wind turbines on the Schwend ridge are expected to generate around 30,000 megawatt hour of green power every year, which corresponds to the power consumed by about 8,000 two-person house-holds in Germany annually. This means that it will be possible to cover around 30 percent of the power required by the Koehler plant in Oberkirch with regionally produced renewable power in the future. Since both turbines will be connected directly to the plant, Koehler will not be getting any government grants or subsidies for the corresponding construction and operation as per current plans. The excellent wind speeds of considerably more than 6 m/s will be absolutely crucial for the project’s cost-effectiveness, since these conditions will ensure a reliable and constant source of energy.
In addition to the long-term importance of this project with regard to job security at the plant in Oberkirch, the wind farm on the Schwend ridge should also boost the local economy. Companies from the region will be hired for planning, construction, and operation whenever possible, ensuring that a large part of the value created by the project will remain local, benefitting not only Oberkirch, but also other communities in the region.
