The project
Run-of-river power plants use the natural flow of rivers to generate electricity. Part of the river water is passed through a water turbine. The turbine converts the potential energy of the water into a mechanical rotary motion, which in turn drives a generator. In this way, the kinetic energy of the flowing water is converted into mechanical and ultimately electrical energy.
