Koehler Group to Use Power from Its Own Wind Turbines
As a manufacturer of specialty paper, Koehler Group is involved in an energy-intensive industry and is keenly aware of its responsibility towards the environment and the climate. With this in mind, the company has been investing in renewable energy generation for over twenty years, setting up a sec-ond division of the business, Koehler Renewable Energy, over a decade ago to focus on this area. With the “2030 Koehler Promise”, Koehler Group sets itself the goal of generating more energy from renewable sources with its own facilities than it consumes producing paper by 2030 at the latest.

Successful commissioning: Milestone for Sustainable Energy Generation
Koehler Renewable Energy is delighted to announce that the new wind farm Wetzlar-Blasbach is now up and running. Planning work for the wind farm began way back in 2012. It was given final approval after 10 years, and construction work began that same year.

Discussion about Wind Turbines in the Murg valley
The timber industry in the Murg valley has a long-standing tradition and there are still a number of paper-producing companies here today. The paper industry is an energy-intensive industry, which is why the development of energy prices in the last two years has led to massive challenges. The paper and pulp industry is therefore calling for locally generated green electricity to secure jobs in the Murg valley in the long term.

Koehler Renewable Energy receives approval for Höhlerberg wind farm project with two wind turbines
After nearly five years of planning, the preparation work for building the Höhlerberg wind farm in Middle Hesse is scheduled to start this year. The wind farm is a joint project between Koehler Renewable Energy and Qair Deutschland, and the original permit application was submitted back in 2018 to the regional board in Gießen. Two Nordex N163 wind turbines were approved in March 2023, and should deliver approximately 28,000 MWh a year, which corresponds to the annual power consumption of around 7,000 homes.

Lignite Power Plant Converted to Fine Wood Fraction
Decarbonization is part of the Koehler Group’s climate strategy. Thereby savings of more than 24,000 metric tons of CO₂ per year at the Greiz site. Wolfgang Tiefensee, Thuringia’s Minister for the Economy, Science, and Digital Society, visited the site for the celebration to mark the start of the test run.

Koehler Renewable Energy faces special challenges
A particularly tricky wind power project by Koehler Renewable Energy in alliance with Qair Deutschland is currently underway in North Hesse. The wind farm, which will be located north of the town of Waldeck, will feature five V162 wind turbines. These models are cutting-edge units from the latest generation of wind turbines, with each one delivering up to 6.2 MW.
